Australian Women Pilots' Association, with the wonderful sponsorship of Airservices Australia, wish to offer four flying training scholarships to the value of $6,000 plus GST each to a woman who wishes to pursue an aviation career. The scholarship is to assist with flight training costs associated with initiating and continuing your flying endeavours.
Airservices Australia is the national air traffic control corporation and a global leader responsible for the provision of air navigation services. Owned by the Commonwealth Government, Airservices Australia operates as a commercial business earning revenue from the charges applied to the provision of products and services to the aviation industry. It has a responsibility under the Airservices Act 1995 to 'Foster and Promote Aviation'. The organisation believes it is in the long term interests of the aviation industry to assist young people pursue a career in aviation.
To this end Airservices Australia has donated funds to provide a scholarship which will be awarded on merit to a successful female applicant. Each scholarship is specifically to help meet the flight training costs of a successful candidate to initiate and pursue their licence.
Australian Women Pilots Association (AWPA) is the nation's peak representative of women pilots. Its objectives are focused on promoting aviation and women pilots in career and recreational pursuits. Each scholarship provides one woman with the opportunity to 'kick-start' their flying career. AWPA is particularly grateful and appreciative of Airservices Australia in providing this opportunity.
